Born in New Westminster, BC, Canada, Michèle had a childhood immersed in the arts. Her time was divided between music, dance, fine art and her studies at school. For a number of years, she played violin and string bass in the Vancouver Youth Orchestra.

At age 16, she began in-depth studies in ceramic sculpture under the tutelage of Jack Hardman. Michèle spent several years working with Mr. Hardman and went on to do independent study in the same medium. At this time she was also studying woodcarving and silversmithing.

In 1987, Michèle enrolled in the multimedia sculpture course at Kwantlen College, where she studied under Kay Bonathan. Here she learned to apply her talents to stone, metal and cement.

At present, Michèle works mainly in stone and ceramics. Her pieces are reflective of the spirit of the west coast and although her style is contemporary, it has a hint of the traditional. She has also developed her method of painting to accommodate her expression, using a combination of collage, relief printing and applied paints, including gold leaf and Venetian plaster.

Her favorite subject is that of the mother-child bond. In these works, Michèle’s constant search for the most simple form to depict complex emotions is very evident.

Michèle’s works are in private and corporate collections in North America, South America, Australia, Asia and Europe. She presently resides on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada.
